Birds fascinate me, and this little guy is no exception. I was reading a Go Diego, Go! book with my son and one of the pictures had a toucan in it and that is how I was inspired to make this guy. In my imagination he is sitting on a branch, making lots of happy noises for everyone to hear.
1 Black Marquise (6 inch, 15.6 cm), very loosely rolled

Some additional thoughts about our Toucan... my son is quick to point out that his beak should have more than 2 colors, and yes he is correct. When I look at him I think that when I revisit this pattern at some point I will also add more layers so that it is easier to separate the wing and tail and make him really fly off the page. I had originally planned to have this included in the 2009 Quilling-A-Day calendar so I was limited in the number of strips that I could use, so that is why the pattern was created this way.
